Energy saving tools for industrial insulation

New and improved innovative tools from Rockwool Technical Insulation help the international process industry save energy and reduce CO2.

Rockwool Technical Insulation (RTI) had a prominent presence at this year’s ISO Wiesbaden, the world’s biggest trade fair specialising in insulation materials and technology. The trade fair attracted more than seven thousand visitors this year – 20% more than last year.Co-ordinated by RTI Germany, RTI presented itself at the fair with a stand covering more than 100m2 which welcomed hundreds of visitors per day.

Process manual popular

A highlight was the presentation of the new RTI process manual, which contains detailed theoretical and practical information on insulation in the process industry. The CO2 savings calculation program, Rockassist, also attracted a lot of interest. Sales Director Germany, Martin Schwark: "We launched the process manual with an on-screen browsable presentation. A perpex holder, which held the first physical copy of the process manual, also contained a slot wherein visitors could deposit an order form for a physical copy of their own. More than 170 companies made use of this. The process manual will be published in several different languages."

Industry-wide initiatives

The central theme of ISO Wiesbaden was reducing CO2. The Fördergemeinschaft Dämmtechnik, an association of German insulation technology companies, launched its ‘Isolieren PRO Klimaschutz’ initiative, on which Martin Schwark gave a well-attended presentation. "Germany has set ambitious targets in its large-scale energy and climate control programme wherein amongst other things; it is aiming to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by forty per cent by 2020. The focus now lies largely on traffic, homes, businesses and the service sector. But the targets cannot be reached if industrial insulation is left out of the equation. Hence this industry-wide initiative by insulation material manufacturers to raise awareness of the contribution industry can offer in conserving energy and reducing CO2 emissions."
